I have more than 25 years’ experience editing academic texts across all disciplines, educational resources, and creative and informational texts for diverse audiences.
I strive to ensure that material I edit remains faithful to the writer’s voice and meanings, is appropriate to the intended audience and meets the publisher’s needs.

Specific projects
As a lecturer in academic literacy and as a research assistant and writer, I have had extensive experience in editing my own research and the work of peers for publication in scholarly and educational journals, books and electronic media*; and in teaching university students, many from other language backgrounds, to use editing and referencing skills to write theses and assignments more clearly, accurately and effectively and following discipline-specific conventions.

In addition, my research in stylistics has enhanced my knowledge about voice and tone across a broad range of genres and informed my PhD thesis, which focuses on the writer’s voice, as well as my contribution to a Year 12 student resource:
